The Saga of MRS MARY PARKER Part 2: "Is that the reason why you call me?"

If you haven't read part 1, take a minute and do that now. Just scroll down. A reverse-chronological order would probably work better for something like this, but Blogger is free and I'm cheap. SO DEAL WITH IT!

Back yet? OK. You may have noticed in the last email in Part 1 that our Mr. Kelvin Kessinger left a phone number (+44-7011-1475-09.) Vonage offers free calls to England, so I decided to give him a call.

Call #1 (MP3 32kbps 2.7MB 11:42)

As a result of the call, I got two emails, one from "Mrs. Mary Parker" and one from the "Bank."

First, the one from "Mrs. Mary Parker."

Mr. Kelvin Kessinger's bank is the most efficient operation I've ever seen. This email came in about 15 minutes after I got off the phone, which would mean that he emailed her immediately after he hung up. Then she would have to have been waiting on the computer and immediately emailed me. It's almost like it's the same guy...Oh, by the way this email came in at 5:38pm Pacific Time (UTC -8) which would make it 1:38am where he is. Lloyd's Bank sure stays open late.

Anyway, it's really quite early for me, so I don't waste much time drafting my response to my beloved "Mrs. Mary Parker."

My Dearest Most Beloved MRS MARY PARKER.

Very well, my love. If you tell me that Mr. Kessinger is indeed a deep Christian and does know Jesus in his heart, then I believe you, for evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. ( 2 Timothy 3:13)

Your Brother in Christ,
Adam Tiberius Discordia

Little did I realize this would be the last correspondence I would have with "Mrs. Mary Parker."

Now, I like to think I'm a savvy guy; I know when something doesn't smell right. I understand that the prospect of 1.5 million British Pounds is a tempting one and that the promise of such a large sum for free might cloud your judgment. But please remember, there ate no people out there that you've never met that want to give you their money. Furthermore, if you find this:

At the end of an official email from the bank with the money, THEY ARE NOT A REAL BANK. Banks don't use Yahoo mail for official business. Does this guy really think people will fall for this?

Anyway, back to the story; I replied with this:

I am uncomfortable giving out personal information over electronic mail; any one can intercept it. I will phone you tomorrow and give the informations via telephone.

I'm also uncomfortable giving information to banks that use free email services, but I digress. I call him back the next day and decide this time to use the time zone difference to my advantage. I called him at 8:00pm Pacific (0400 UTC.) He was not at all happy to be hearing from me. Maybe Lloyd's Bank shouldn't be open 24 hours a day then. :D

Call #2 (MP3 32kbps 2.82 Kbps 12:20)

I'd like to say I learned a lot from my dealings with "Mrs. Mary Parker" and "Mr. Kelvin Kessinger." but I really didn't. I did get some good closure on this one though, so that's something. :D

Oh, and there's a real Lloyd's TSB, for what that's worth.

I received the same e-mail, but they didn't use the same name. I got one from Mrs. Sarah Grant. I have e-mailing her back and foreth, i guess you can say i'm playing their game. When i asked to the bank's name and who i could speak with she gave me the same bank and the same name, Mr. Kelvin Kessinger. I have reading the blogs and everyone has statd getting them from Mrs. Mary Parker. The person i've been getting them is calling herself Mrs. Sarah Grant. So they are playing two different games!!

I have gotten the same email and it's 2012! You would think they would change the name of this fictious dying person.
